Baseball Season Has Begun!

The greatest sport on earth is back in session! Despite Smoltz's disappointing start yesterday (can you say, Encarnacion + first inning + bases loaded + two out = grand slam?), it looks to be a good season for my team. We've still got Smoltz, who is bound to settle back into his groove as a starter before long into the season. (Same thing happened in 2002 when he played his first game as closer, and he went on to become the best closer we've ever had.)

Estrada is solid as catcher, AJ's still playing that shallow center field with his amazing arm, and, of course, LaRoache, Chipper, Furcal, Franco, and Giles have our infield nailed down. And, hey, Brian Jordan's back! So offense is not too shabby, either. 14th division title in a row, here we come!

My point and case against that is tonight's game. That was a classic Braves game...and good baseball overall. Low score, evenly matched teams, and good playing all around. Resourcefulness on the part of the coaches and managers, and skill on the part of the players. That game bodes well for the rest of our season--the Braves' defense is looking extremely sharp! Go Braves!
