Is it just me, or does it seem like everyone is dropping out of the WBC? Melvin Mora has just pulled out because he was asked to play center field for Venezuela instead of third base.
In Latin baseball, the position one plays is a source of great pride, and being asked to move is an insult to the player. That's why Alfonso Soriano refuses to move from second base to the outfield for his new MLB team.
Okay, that makes sense to me. I guess I'm used to the American jack-of-all-trades player. Would you be so particular in a world-class game, though?
